1/9/10 Chalet de la Flegere to Chamonix, France

On Wednesday, after a pretty good sleep in the dorm room at the chalet, we headed off to the southwest for a hike along the hillside, then up to le Brevent (a pretty area of peaks and rugged terrain) and then down for what seemed like forever into Chamonix.

It was a gorgeous day and there were a LOT of folks out on the trials. At one point, we hit some ladders and looking up at the log jam of people, you'd have thought we were trying to get up the Hillary step or something. To help keep our patience, we did lots of people watching. Some interesting outfits out there. These fellas were German I think. Not sure about the quick draw-style water bottles on the chest but whatever works.

After we beat our feet to hamburger on the decent, we stopped in Chamonix for a beer and watched a strange foot race made up of waitresses carrying perrier water on trays and walking as fast as possible without spilling. Never did get the whole story but it was fun to watch and Chamonix is a cool place to hang out.
