Being that we are getting older, we decided on a nice Sunday drive to see some lakes. We criased up to Annecy, which sits on the northern point of Lac d'Annecy. On the way
managed to get caught up in a bike/run race in which teams of two circumnavigate the lake. One person runs while the other bikes and then they switch, which can be a graceful hop on/hop off affair or a clumsy disaster. We saw both. The lake is huge and the route hilly. The
French are hard core. Everywhere we go they are biking and running and wearing lots of spandex. Less appealing is the seemingly French tendency to urinate in public without a second thought. While stuck in a traffic jam caused by the race, we saw one participant stop his bike in the middle of the road, saunter over to a lovely bit of landscaping on the edge of a residential property, drop trow and pee what seemed like gallons onto this poor shrub. All while the folks in the traffic jam and all the other races watched. Strange. This is by no means the first instance of public peeing or, I'm sure, the last. Ah, the French....

Annecy was lovely and vibrant with more cafe's and market stalls than you could explore in a lifetime. This guy was selling at least 20 different mixes of olives. Yum! There was even guy painting watercolors o
n the corner – I thought that kind of thing only happens in the movies.
