Jasper National Park - Mount Edith Cavell and Valley of Five Lakes

Jeff's giant leg after getting stung by a wasp
Mount Edith Cavell and Angel Glacier
Shortly after getting showered up in Jasper, Jeff was attacked by a wasp and stung once on the leg and then another time on the foot (the result of an unfortunate swat at the wasp that resulted in it dropping into his boot).  His leg swelled up and the foot barely fit in the boot.  Time to tame back the hiking and maybe just take it easy.  Headed up to see Mount Edith Cavell and Angel Glacier, which are both part of a stunning area, with a lovely day hike.  Then we headed to the Valley of the Five Lakes for a nice, flat stroll through the woods and around some lakes.

While wandering in the Valley of Five Lakes, we spied a lovely Ptarmigan.  Cool red eyebrows and he seemed so personable as he ran out to the trail to check us out.  Little did we know, they are very territorial and it was just a matter of time before Jeff was chased down by this angry little ball of feathers.  I thought we were friends (maybe bonded due to both having red on?) but shortly after, the bird attacked me, much to Jeff's amusement.  Rather than helping, he videotaped the incident.

Me and the ptarmigan, pre-attack

A foot was pretty much the only way to stop this guy
