We took two days to get up to Glacier, stopping in Billings to have a visit with our friend Melissa. Lovely. Getting a campsite in Glacier in August after 10 am....not so lovely. This place is PACKED! We camped in the forest outside the park and then got up at the crack of dawn the next day and managed to score a spot at Avalanche Creek campground (on the west side of the park). Campgrounds on the east side of the park fill up in seconds and all the parking lots along Going to the Sun Road are full as of about 10am too. So, we took the free shuttle everywhere. Great idea, not great while they are doing construction. It took us 3 hours to get 15 miles from our CG to the start of the Garden Wall hike. Oh well, it's gorgeous. Unfortunatly, we tired of the crowds and traffic and construction and left the park after only a three day stay. Not to worry, kickass Canada awaits!
