Where the bloody hell are we? 9-13/5/10

Ah, the Riesling trail. Yum. We got up early to bike the trail but it was about 10 degrees and something about wine tasting before noon when you are numb is not as fun as it sounds. Not ones to give up, we powered on. We were hoping to camp up at Mount Remarkable but the access road was gated and locked. Who locks their national parks? Well, there was not much remarkable about Mount Remarkable except that it was the highest thing as far as the eye can see (which is forever now that we are getting up to the plains.

We started calling this the “where the bloody hell are we?” tour as country Australia in general is not good at signposting things. The feeling seems to be, “If you want it bad enough, you'll find it.” Lots of wandering around thinking, “If this is a major tourist attraction, shouldn't it at least be sign posted?”.

We are now camped at a beach camp on the lower east coast of the Eyre Peninsula. It's gorgeous but man the drive here was boring. We planned to spend most of our trip in WA but here we still are in SA. I think maybe we are both just dreading the null arbour crossing. Actually, Burnie's second battery has decided that it's done charging up so no light after 6pm. All else is good. We don't need no stinking lights at night – our wine cellar is stocked and that is all a girl can ask for.
