Scot built the Discovery Hut in February 1902 for use during his Discovery Expedition from 1901-1904. The hut was designed to be used in the outback of Australia and so is meant to keep heat out. Oops. It was cold in comparison to their ship so the crew never slept in it and just used it for storage. It's in the process of being restored so many of the provisions left behind have been removed but there are still some boxes inside and a desiccated seal that's been sitting on the porch for 100 years. Inside there's a pile of seal blubber and meat that's been oozing for what looks like some time. It doesn't smell but is gross enough just to look at. Interesting stuff.
