Banff National Park - Larch Valley to Paradise Valley via Sentinel Pass

Larch Valley

Path to Sentinel Pass

We headed to Lake Louise to camp.  A strange experience as the entire campground is surrounded by an electrified bear-proof fence.  On advice from Ross (see previous post), we headed into Larch Valley for a hike.  The larch trees were all starting to turn yellow, which made for a beautiful hike.  We made it to Sentinal Pass and then decided, what the hell and continued on down Paradise Valley (10.4 mi and 2100 ft gain total).  Didn't have a map but we managed to figure it out.  Didn't see a soul in Paradise Valley and it was stunning!

Paradise Valley

The hike starts at Moraine Lake, which is very crowded but the crowds quickly drop away once you get over the pass.  We hitched from the end of the trail down Paradise Valley to avoid the long walk back to our car along the narrow and busy road.
