Blue Lagoon and fish June 13th and 14th

We dropped Eric off at the airport and Jeff and I spent our last day checking out the famous blue lagoon and the Reykjanes peninsula.  Blue Lagoon was for sure the most interesting but after seeing the hoards of people there, we decided just to take a walk around the "no swimming" section of the lagoon.   The lagoon is actually the waste water from a nearby geothermal plant but apparently is all sorts of good for you and heals whatever ails you.  Icelanders love dried fish (or at least they try to sell it to the tourists claiming they love it).  So, when we saw huge racks of fish out in a field drying, we stopped.  Mistake.  The smell was one of the worst things my nostrils have ever encountered.  My skin smelled like rotten fish for days.

The smell!  Just seeing this makes me gag all over again.
