From Dickson Camp, the trail climbs gently along the Rio de Los Perros with views of some nice glaciers and some great fall colors. Los Perros camp sits at the bottom of the steep climb up John Gardner pass, which can be impassable when it's windy or foggy. The park is pretty serious about safety in this area since there was a guy who tried to get over the pass in a storm, got disoriented and froze to death near the top of the pass in the late 2000's.
