
After Ko Samui, we took the ferry (thankfully no more buses for a while) to Ko Tao, which is smaller and quieter. Ko Tao is the scuba diving capital of Thailand and I decided to get my open water certification here while Jeff is taking an advanced course.
The scenery is stunning, the diving and hotel are cheap and the people are lovely. All that was by far topped by this water spout that popped down out of a thunderstorm that was passing by. Wow!
The diving was cheap but man, there were a lot of us on that boat diving and a lot of folks in the water chasing the fish. My dive group was very international: two Israeli's, one Aussie, three Germans and me. My Israeli dive buddy (that's him in the black wet suit below) was kind e
nough to compliment me on my natural buoyancy and kept me entertained with tales of India (where he'd just come from), where
men apparently grab your breasts if you leave your shoulders uncovered. He reassured me that I would probably be fine as the men would likely be looking for women with larger breasts. What a relief.
The visibility was great though and I only got kicked in the head by team China four or five times each dive so I'm considering the whole thing a success.

Made the mistake of not reading your blog for several weeks. It has taken me about 2 hours to catch up!! Your adventure so far sounds fantastic. Keep taking those wonderful photos.
