1/8/10 and 2/8/10 Phuket, Thailand

Well, we flew into Phuket, Thailand and headed to the north to get away from all the partying college kids. It's the rainy season and it poured all day on our first day. So, we spent the day trying to decipher the English versions of the phamplets in the hotel. Some creative efforts. No idea why the previous text is underlined - the computer is outsmarting me right now.

On day two, we rented a motorbike and headed off. We cruised around the island of Phuket, which is really quite large. Saw a huge marble budda, rubber trees (raw latex is really neat but stinks), crazy power lines, amazing views and then got a flat tire at dusk. We were still 30 minutes from the hotel but luckily, we broke down in front of the house of a make-shift mechanic, who sorted it all out (including buying a new tube for the tire) for about $7 US.

This (top left) is a fake tree that has bathrooms in it! And this (top right) is a rubber tree with a little cup to collect the latex...
