The Gardens, Bay of Fires, Tasmania

Our friend Tom decided to come down and visit from Adelaide and we were all lucky enough to be offered a long weekend away at Esmee and Steve's "shack" at the Bay of Fires.  Having a shack is a very Australian thing and can mean anything from a literal shack to a nice house that is your weekend getaway.  Es and Steve's place is great - no electricity or wifi (which is great) but comfy beds, a wood fired stove and, according to Lonely Planet, one of the best beaches in the world right out the door.  Bay of Fires is one of my favorite spots in Tassie.  Although we went in the midst of winter, we had pretty warm weather - perfect for beach time.

Lichen and the ocean make a nice contrast.
