There was a break in the rain and so we rented a car and head off to explore. Saturday to Shakespear Regional Park, near Whangaparaoa (on the east cost, north of Auckland) which had nice hiking trails in a pastoral setting. Sunday we we to Murawai Beach to check out the gannet colony (wrong time of year it turns out) and hike along the coastal cliffs. It was beautiful and I wish I could go back again this weekend...
