The prime boat spot out of the wind
We were lucky enough to be invited along on a ten day boat tour of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia by David and Cynthia, of cruising in Turkey fame.  Even luckier, Dave knows a guy who owns a big kick-ass boat and was willing to let the 9 of us set off in it!

So 7 Aussies and us 2 Seppos arrived in Airlie Beach, Queensland on July 20th and spent the night on our catamaran in the marina.  Airlie is lovely but is a backpacker, party town and we were all keen to head off after obtaining enough food to feed an army and enough booze to drown it.

We headed out into the rain, Gilligan's Island style, to Sawmill Bay on the 21st.  Not ideal as Jeff and I have been saturated since winter set in in Auckland but at least it was warmish and the scenery was hard to beat.
