Shackleton Glacier Camp

Mints in my tent and a welcome note!

In mid-December, I headed out to Shackleton Glacier camp, which is located on Shackleton Glacier in the midst of the Trans-Antarctic mountains.  The plan was to stay here for a few days and get a flight out to a more remote (and now abandoned) camp at Mill Glacier.  More on that in the future. Between weather and limited flight resources, it took almost two weeks before a flight to Mill happened.  In the mean time, I unexpectedly spent Christmas out there and pretty much became a camp worker by the end of my stint.  It's a gorgeous place.  There are mountains in every direction and several glaciers visible flowing into the larger Shackleton Glacier.

Passing time with mini games...
The kitchen tent - I spent a
lot of time here waiting...
