Boats and Snowmobiles

Yoga at "room with a view"
Snowmobiling to the hills
My job this year gets me on a snowmobile a bit and having snowmobile training qualifies me to volunteer to take other people on recreation trips via snowmobile.  It's a fun thing to do and everyone who gets to go loves it.  We went to a place called "Room With a View", which is a hill on the side of Mt. Erebus that has a good view of the area.

This is also the time of year when the icebreaker cuts a channel in and various boats come to visit station.  This year we had the Nathaniel B. Palmer (or NBP for short); the vessel, which brings in all of the supplies for winter and takes away all the trash for disposal in the US; and tanker, which brings in a LOT of fuel that is used over winter and next summer to heat the station and run all the equipment we use here.
The US Coast Guard ice breaker opens up a channel for all
the other vessels that visit station before winter sets in .

The Nathaniel B. Palmer, a research vessel
that travels the southern ocean collecting data.
It even calls into Hobart!!!
